Description of Class and Schedule:
Weekend Classes
Class size is limited to 6 students per instructor
Saturday –
This is Day 1
Students learn the basics of windsurfing. Including Mounting the Windsurf Board, Up hauling the sail, Sail Position, Tacking, Jibing and Self-rescue. Each student takes a turn on the Land Simulator and learns the commands given by the instructor. Then each student takes a turn out on the water to practice what they learned on the simulator.
Upon the successful completion of time on the water and the student is able to perform the above mentioned skills, the student is permitted to take a fully rigged board out on their own. The instructor is always available to for help or assistance.
Sunday –
This is a day 2 of the class.
Each student will have mastered the needed to navigate the windsurfer around the water. Now they get time on the water to practice and enjoy windsurfing.
Approximate class time of day 2 lessons, depends on the students and their availability to get over to the lake. This class can be extended to meet the needs of the students. It's really a free time for them to get out on the water. Students may also reschedule for a weekday afternoon time if they prefer.
The instructor is also out in the water for encouragement and support. The instructor will also give a few new skills and tricks for each student as they progress.
Weekday Classes - When you want to go faster!
These are much shorter classes with emphasis on perfecting sailing skills.
Students will be on the water sailing and practicing Jibes, Tacks, Steering and perfecting their stance on the board. All of these skills enable the student to go faster on the water, even in minimal wind conditions.
Students begin to learn and understand wind theory and apparent wind which is what allows the board to go faster than the actually wind speed.
